One morning Carla and I hopped on the tram ($1.50) and made our way to the sea bus terminal to catch the hour long ferry ($2.50) that took us to the Prince’s Island of Buyukada. The Prince’s Islands are 4 small islands off of Istanbul’s coasts, all 4 are car-free and only 2 of them can be visited by tourists. As it is slow season we decided to visit the largest island hoping it would be the liveliest.
The island was really cool, everyone rode bikes or hired horse drawn carriages to explore the hilly streets. By foot, Carla and I took pictures of empty wooden homes and villas while befriending a new street cat every 5 meters. I’d love to come back in the summer when it’s busy, I bet it’s packed with interesting people relaxing, having a fun time, trying to get away from the noisy traffic ridden city.
