Well, it’s a huge city with lots of people and nowhere to park. No matter what time, day or night, people are walking down the streets, drinking Frappes in cafes, playing backgammon, having a drink, laughing and enjoying themselves. The architecture is somewhat random or should I say eclectic, ancient ruins where uncovered in the city centre and rather than taking it down they built the new city around it. It’s all apartment buildings, I didn’t see one office building, beautiful shops and restaurants on street level and 8 to 12 stories of residential apartments and condo above. Not one building is alike yet they all seem to fit perfectly together. Thessaloniki doesn’t remind you of Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Istanbul or Krakow, it really has it’s own style, one that we loved.
